ballpen on paper

This survey examines the state of drawing in Germany through the lens of 19 artists working in the medium, among them Irina Baschlakow, Marc Brandenburg, Monika Brandmeier, Fernando Bryce, Marcel van Eeden, Pia Linz, Theresa Lükenwerk, Nanne Meyer, Christian Pilz, Alexander Roob, Malte Spohr, German Stegmaier, Markus Vater, Jorinde Voigt and Ralf Ziervogel.

Would’ve liked to see this exhibition. Would also like to own this very expensive book.

Some vector animals

I’ve been wasting a lot of time this week trying to learn Adobe Illustrator. Here’s a cat and a fish:

I made some penguins

They are of the Gentoo species. I drew them from life. That was a lie, they’re drawn from pictures found on Google Image Search.

Próxima estación

I traveled to Spain alone last last fall. October 2007! My fall break from my semester in Prague. Traveling alone is awesomely liberating, if you can stand being a little lonely. I listened to a lot of Manu Chao and, strangely, Pixies. I like going to museums solo. Here’s my drawing of the Museo del Prado’s façade on a fortuitously sunny day.

Faux vector

A trip across the hardwood floor

Ever wondered what wooden textures looked like while tripping on acid?

Holes

This drawing I did of a spider

This was fun to draw; I like how it looks in india ink. But then I saw this spider and looked back at my spider as it paled and died in comparison.

Fine lines

Abstract line doodling is like washing dishes. It’s a tedious act and requires absolutely zero thinking and all of a sudden you are done and there is a cool picture. Or a stack of shiny lemon-scented dishes.

Impulse vortex

So I got these neat watercolor pens at Blick. Impulse buy.

Live forever

Prunus persica

When I was little we had a peach tree in the backyard.

Modern guilt

Beck’s Modern Guilt album is months old already, but I am just now giving it a real listen. I like “Walls” and “Gamma Ray.”

Anyway I drew a picture of him (in thought). It looks pretty good if you back up about five feet and squint so that the hatch marks are blurry and “not there.”

A couple of things

So i got a better pen

Exclusively for drawing stupid things, so I can use my ballpoints for real things.

Little wooden existential man

He is arguably more existentially tormented than predecessors, because he has no face and cannot express his feelings.

Balc sesh

My apartment has a sweet terrace that overlooks third avenue. I can see the NYU dorm Alumni Hall from it. Here’s a bunch of squares:

Penning prehistoric

Today I drew some dinosaurs.

A flower grows in prague

Here is a flower drawing i made in my Tesco notebook.

This is from that time I was bored in prague. I was only bored once while I was there, that’s how awesome it was, Seriously.
